|18/12/2003 12:36:26||Richard||Has anyone had the metal pin shear in their brake master cylinder? I have over the years had this happen twice. It is the pin which locks the lower piston and seals in place against their spring. When it fails the springs can equal each other out and you carry on as normal, but with a slightly funny feel on the brake pedal. The front left brake pad also takes a hammering as the other circuit is not working as well and the car pull slightly to the left.
What is more of a problem is the pin now broken cuts through the two middle seals on each of the dual circuit eventually (suddenly) you are left with no brakes in freewheel as the seals are torn by the pin.
