02/05/2004 15:03:45   paul H   My ('69) 96 door mirrors have fallen off; the aluminium has give-way on the balltype joint where it attatches to the bracket. Seems like this might be a common thing, the metal doesn't look very strong.

I can do a bodge fix, but any tips for proper restoration would be appreciated.

03/05/2004 23:57:02   David   Sounds pretty terminal to me - they were made of rather flimsy material in the first place. My advice is to (a) look on eBay (you may have to buy the whole car!), (b) visit your local scrappy, (c) look in Classic Car weekly or a similar publication for specialist suppliers, (d) go to all the local autojumbles or (e) put an ad (free) on the SOC website or in Practical Clasics / CCW / similar.
