20/10/2002 19:45:10   Sarah   I got a Saab 96 when my mate went to Autralia and left it for me if I got it going. I'm very fond of it but it overheats and has stopped dead once in a multi-story car park with a stream of (helpful) hooting drivers behind me so I've not taken it out for ages, allowed the MOT to lapse and am feeling very guilty. I'd like to get it working beautifully. I'm in West London. Recommedations appreciated.

If the car runs OK but overheats then the things to check are the thermostat and the radiator. Try flushing the system through with a hose pipe to remove any crud from the rad and block.
When it stopped dead, was it overheating at that point as that could mean more seriuos issues have now happened.

The carpark incident was on a very wet day after going up a very steep slope into the carpark. It started again after about 10 minutes after pretending to be dead.
