20/07/2005 12:45:01   Richard   I am going to join the other V4 on the entry for the RAC clubmans rally in Nov (Monday only). The other car entered from what Colin has told me is in the same green works colours as our car, so that should look good.
I am hoping to run Craig Wallace in the co-drivers seat for a change if he accepts the offer.

22/07/2005 09:39:49   neil   I guess we should organise a roving supporters club for you guys - keep us informed of the route etc. and we'll be waiting to roll you back onto your wheels... ;-)
25/07/2005 12:47:24   Richard   I think the cost put people off last year, coupled with the fact that we are all skin flints that run Saabs. Andrew Street was the only person that could have put something together maybe with some Saab backing, but he has gone Porsche now.
I thought of getting someone of note into a V4, but we would need a pukka Car for a pukka driver and all the expenses of a professional service set up. Lets be fair the Saab is not going to win the event outright unless its very slippy and most of your old ex-works drivers still want to win outright. The only bloke I can see that is faithful to Saab is Per Eklund, I think he would do it in a Saab.
I would love to be involved in something like this, but Per can afford to do it himself or Saab GB could wake up and see the effect Per or Stig would have on a large bunch of spectators if they were running in the cars they were associated, why should club drivers, have to fund it?
Skoda GB wanted to hire my 120s for last years event, but it has yet to run right for a full event, you could prep one to my cars spec for 3000-4000 and use it for pr.
I think they wanted the two autocar blokes to drive it, I think not! Its Haugland or Haugland or hop it, I dont mind John crashing my car!

22/11/2005 15:36:43   Clive   I managed to see the two 96's in Castle O'er on Monday and then later noted from results that both had unfortunately retired from the event. I would be interested in knowing what happened to them.
22/11/2005 23:39:36   John Wood (Woody)   Just been looking at the Lombard Revival Rally website. See there are no SAABs entered. Goes through Wollaton Park in Nottingham on Fri 25th Nov. Anyone thought of doing this type of event as it seems cars need to be as near to standard as possible?
23/11/2005 20:42:37   Rich   Well we went off trying to stop it from grip rolling on gravel and killed all the front end on tree stumps and got it beached.
Clive hit a bridge and that's all I know about that.
I have arranged a new shell already, but would be interested if anyone has a front rhs inner arch and turret or a scrap car we can remove the inner wing from.
I will be taking my time and probably will build a historic rally car and repair the slime beast as the workshop manual suggests.
The post Historic Saab is a hiding to nothing against the Escorts, its harder to drive and not as quick on the straights and they tip over with no warning.
The plan is that a Historic can be driven a bit more sensible and get historic top ten points. Plus I will have a car that I have built fresh how I want it.
23/11/2005 20:44:36   Rich   You have to be 1400cc or under for the Revival, so you would be in a 2st against 16v Micras in the one litre class.
26/11/2005 18:48:35   nigel   There is a short vidio clip of Rich (I think!) going off, amongst others on this web site: www.madvideo.demon.co.uk,
look under RAC rally 2005 part 2, it's just after the Ascona taking out the straw bales and the smoking Stratos.
27/11/2005 18:31:35   john wyatt   I have a car for breaking which has very good turrets and inner arches, in fact a very good shell generally, just rust in some odd places trouble is I am in Scotland, if you want you are welcome to them. john
27/11/2005 22:21:09   Alistair   Crap luck Rich, sorry to see the car has had another big off. Hope you get it mended and built to your standards soon...
28/11/2005 07:39:20   Richard   John remind me where in Scotland are you? I am getting the shell from Julian near the boarder. I could see if Colin would do me a favour as well.
28/11/2005 07:47:15   Richard   Thanks Nigel, looking at all the cars going off on that corner there was defiatly something dodgy about it. You can just see the rear wheel comming down, but we had it on two as we turned in to the corner.
28/11/2005 09:08:20   john   The car is in Penicuik about 7 miles South of Edinburgh.
30/11/2005 16:45:16   Richard   John I think the car is a bit too far away, we have considered the option though.
30/11/2005 16:56:16   john wyatt   no problem it will be a while before the shell gets scrapped if you change your mind, I had thought about cutting sections off the body for repairs in the future.
