First set the rear brakes with the adjusters.
Pull the hand brake on and use some mole grips on the
cables in front of the metal strip (or rear seat metal work) they run under on the floor. Release the hand brake then you can turn the nuts in or out a lot easier.
The levers on the hubs wear, they can be reprofiled by welding and the pivot also can be tighten up in a similar way.
