|18/11/2005 16:22:13||Clive||I have two thermostats which have come out of V4 engines. Both have been tested and work fine; one is rated at 92C and the other 88C. Haynes Manual suggests 87C for early units and 83C for later units. My car is a 1974 model so presumably it should be fitted with an 83C thermostat.
How critical are thermostats? Would it be OK just to reuse the 88C one or would I be better buying a new 83C thermostat?
