Hi Folks,
After 15 years of trouble free motoring I broke down this morning, luckily in a car park so no big drama but the car wouldn't start and smelled of fuel.
I had no tools with me and so had to call for help.
I was attended to by the world's rudest recovery man and it turns out he'd forgotten most of his tools and we ended up diagnosing with my pen knife.
Anyway - one thing he was right about was that there was to much fuel going into the carb and in fact it was even leaking out the throttle spindle.
Unequipped to tow me home I ended up driving it with the repair man in escort using my keenest driving skills and some left foot braking to avoid stalling.
Anyway, enough of my moaning.
The carb is a 34ICH.
Personally I think the float valve needs cleaning because after driving home, normal running has been restored, but of course I still aught to check things out.
I was thinking of ordering a repair kit and just attempting a modest overhaul of the carb. Is there anything I need to know or anything to recommend regarding this?
Thanks as always.
Steve.

Thanks for the offer Melle.
I actually know someone close by who has one but I appreciate your help.
My repair kit has arrived today so I will take the top off the carb and see how bad it is.

Steve, I have an ultrasonic cleaner you're most welcome to borrow if that helps.
