Hi,
I think I have been here before but can anyone recommend actual good quality torpedo fuses? They all say 'top quality' on ebay...
I know a few on here have switched to modern fuse boxes but for reasons I cannot even explain to myself I want to keep it original.
Thanks in advance!

If you have a heated rear screen, it runs through a 16 amp fuse.
I got rid of the standard fuse box and replaced it with 4x4 modern blade fuse boxes, but I'm not really into originality

I nearly had an under bonnet fire because of the old continental fuse box contacts on the back of the box, working loose after 40 years. This lead to some small electrical arcs, which lead to heat, and smouldering wires.
Fortunately I always have a 13mm spanner under the bonnet, so was able to disconnect the battery pretty damn sharpish.....

Yes indeed, all 8 amp - I only purchased the 16A units to fill up more space in my garage !!

However, joking aside - should I decide to fit an auxiliary fuse box for any reason requiring 16A supply, then at least I have them to hand. As said, decent fuses which will not be around forever.

Regards.

Richard.

Fair point, thought the dipped beams might be 16 amp but no, all 8 amp.
Cheers!

If you need 16A fuses something is not right.

Hello,

I used this seller for his torpedo fuses and have to say they are excellent - the additional benefit is that they are brass rather than aluminium, the latter oxidises quickly; I changed all my alloy fuses for these brass units.

The make is Orutrax which are quality items.

Another bonus is that the seller has 8A and 16A................. I purchased a packet of 25x 8A fuses and a just in case 5x 16A units.

Hope that assists ??

Richard.
