Add that a Post 1976 approx, MGB Lockheed master brake cyclinder can be used on late model Saab 96s with the small filler cap Master cylinder.
Be aware however that the MGB cylinder has an extra hydraulic port, that would need to be plugged off. There is a 4th port, that takes an electric switch, but it is not hydraulic.

Also the MGB master cylinder has M10 x 1 mm threads on the hydraulic ports, whereas the Saab cylinder has 3/8 UNF threads. So either remove the 3/8 UNF ferrules on the Saab pipes, and re-swage, or use cross over.
Plugs and cross over are available on Fleabay.

MGB Master cylinders are easily available from many sources, and pretty cheap, whereas I think the Saab MC is more or less unavailable, as a new part.

Gareth Davies is the OP on FB (he has his profile fairly locked down, but I think he's in the UK from the lurking I've just done)

He said "sure" so you have the green light! He's also offered the fuel sender repair presentation, not sure if it's his too, I've asked....

I like to honour that spirit by at least thanking the people who put in the work!

Will do, I'll have to go find him on the FB page, although he was posting for the "good of the community" so I don't think he'd object

I'll figure out a way of connecting you, he may also get a lot of good use from all the resources on your site

That's awesome Matt! There was an accompanying quick reference book, which I have and of which you can find a scan on my website (http://www.saabv4.com/index.php/ford-taunus-engine/ford-v-taunus-engine-quick-reference-catalogue/), but I've never been able to track down the full set of microfiches. I'd love to have this on my website, if you can bring me in contact with the person who scanned it so I can ask them for permission, that would be great.

So this scanned microfiche was posted on a facebook group, maybe of some use to people looking for a part and needing a cross reference

If you're 96 boot lid seal is the type that has the seal on the body, be aware that the MGB Roadster boot seal is a perfect fit. Just fitted one. Order at the MGB owners club parts service.
You don't have to be a member to buy parts.

Apart from a small difference in length of the arm that the cable connects to, yes, they are the same.
See photos on this post on the UKSAABS site.

Does anyone know if the mini handbrake levers (within the rear hub) are the same as the Saab ?
andydeans3Posted - 20 Oct 2019 : 22:12:19
At the local Classic Car Breakfast meet yesterday, I was told that the "metal can" clutch master cylinder is identical to the Mini clutch master cylinder, right down to the length of the actuating shaft

Or you could try my double lip seals. (via PM to get the seals at better prices as the prices on ebay are slightly higher to cover fees)http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SAAB-95-96-V4-Sonett-DOUBLE-LIP-timing-cover-oil-seal-/262491455068?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT
Ignore the ebay listing that states 3 sold..i have sold these for 10 years now with excellent feedback from everyone..including rally, hill climbers and fast road users.
