Hello,

The engine is just about ready to be extracted and obviously the g/box needs supporting - it is staying put.

Am I right in thinking that a piece of wood, the correct size, is simply placed between the g/box and the engine bay floor pan to give that support ??

I cannot see another alternative.

Grateful for your advice.

Thank you.

Richard.

Many thanks to you both, my question has provided out with and in with the engine answers; whilst the g/box is resting on the wood support.

Works out well for me, as I will need to move the car around the workshop and that can be a faff when gearboxes are not removed with some other marques and models.

Regards.

Richard.

That's what I did, lift the front of the engine a bit first before inserting the wood, so you can get the input shaft aligned and gearbox bolted up before the engine is on the front engine mounts.
