Am I right in thinking that V4 Track rod ends are the same as MGB's?

To Blue 95V4, I know what its like, I had a set of front rubber bushes somewhere but when I was rebuilding I couldn't find them. Had to buy some expensive polybushes to finish the job and then I found them.

I got medium (for the steering rod ends) and large (for the hub ball joints) rubber boots from "panda-tools-and-products" on ebay. They're not quite the same as the originals but they're good quality, fit well and come with spring clips. Erik's front suspension has been completely refurbished - bushes, springs, shocks, calipers, CV boots and ball joints and covers - took me about 3 months to do one side and a day to do the other (once I'd got all the tools and bits together)! Now all I have to do is find the full set of bushes I bought 18 months ago and put away "safely" - have turned the house, lofts, garage and sheds upside down to no avail - and I can do the back end. If all else fails, I have a completely refurbished back axle from a 95V4 that I could fit "temporarily" while I look for those damn bushes .....

"The MGB ones are available on ebay with the grease nipple as per works cars."

That is good to know, always prefer to be able to grease the joint rather be pre packed. The ones noted above were replacement by Saab 1972-75. They did the same to the ball joints too removing the grease nipple. A source of rubber boots for both is also useful in case you nip one accidentally.

"Tie Rod End" is the nomenclature that Saab use, but yes they are the same.

Is "track rod end" same as outer tie rod end?...

Also Austin Maestro/Montego, Alex

They are marked TR7357B same as on the V4, and the TRW no is 04-ES-0106 marked austin morris on the box. I have had these since the early-mid 90's (there's a surprise)
