Hi
I am in the process of fitting a weber ICH.
One question: there is a fuel return pipe that would allow fuel to leave the float chamber if it ever reached the ceiling of the chamber (which it never should).
What has been done in the past with this. Blank it off?

If it is opposite the fuel in pipe from pump it could be a fuel return pipe. In which case just blank it off as not required on a MkIII |

I think you may have a Weber like this. The short black tube with the blanking screw is probably the one you're talking about. I've never seen one of these on any Saab fit carbs, or any others.
If it is that one you can either cap it off or use the FoMoCo overflow pipe.
Make sure your carb is a 27 choke. The 27 is in a circle on the side of the carb. |

Hi there - just to add to the thread - if you look at the posts I have made in the projects thread under Souvenir 109 you will find some pics of the linkage I made using threaded rod etc when I fitted my Weber 34ICH. It works well. |

Hi. Not too sure how to add photos from an iPad. But there is a clear copper tube that enters the flot chamber above the gasket ( ie in the top half of the carb).
I will run a drain line or blank as suggested.
Just trying to figure out how to make the linkage work on my Sonett III.
Does anyone know where to get linkage parts? Really looking for quick release ball and sockets too.

The Ford carb has an overflow going to the turret, as mentioned above, but the Weber has nothing like that - nor has it shown an need of it either! Although the pix of my Weber were were not taken to illustrate the question you ask, you may be able to get some clues from the photos in the above mentioned thread.
Oh, and its a huge improvement over the Ford carb in terms of general responsiveness!

Are you quite sure that the aperture you are looking at actually goes all the way through to the float chamber - I have two ICH 34s and both have a blind casting which doesn't actually connect to the chamber?
That being the case, it would suggest that either venting to a safe place as per the FOMOCO, or blanking off would be OK. |

THe standard V4 with Fomoco had an overflow pipe which went to the inner wing turret. In the event that the float failed causing the chamber to overfill it wouldn't spill out into the V and therefore risk ignition. Something similar could be done. Afraid I have no experience if ICH's. |
