...the one in front of the windscreen, that is!

As some of you may know, my 96 is currently in a body shop undergoing some major renovation work, including a complete, glass-out re-spray. I went down to the bodyshop today to check progress, and they asked me how to remove that airscoop! I though it just unbolted (2 bolts), but it appears not to be held by captive nuts.

It looks as if it should be possible to remove the "manifold" that goes between the bulkhead and the heater intake without disturbing the main heater unit, and gain access to the airbox that way.

Is this right? I've never had this part of the car apart before!

Cheers,

A gentle levering with a block of wood to protect the body and a screwdriver at the posts will help avoid bending the scoop.

Thanks all!

"Just pull it out"! Why didn't I think of that! D'oh!

If they're not broken I would leave them where they are.

Keep the spring clamps safe! Both mine were lost at the body shop and I couldn't find any replacements, I couldn't even remember what they looked like. A local enthusiast gave me a pair from an old shell he had at the back of his garage. Thanks again Tom.

Just pull! It's held in place by a spring clamp in each of the holes for the pins.
