Go to the last post - rather than start a new thread I have added to this one for those who have been following it.
I have eventually managed to make some progress on the Poly Bush Front for the 96.
I have sourced potential bushes for the upper and lower wishbones - they should be with me next week and I will be able to check for fit. These are already commercially available so if they fit, jolly good.
As for the real stabiliser arms, I have not been able to find poly bushes that fit, although one company has said they will be able to make them to fit but a minimum run of 100 units, e.g. 25 cars.
I want a set and I know of another chap.
Are there 23 other people who would like to put Poly bushes on their 96?
Please let me know and we can take this forward.

I have the use of a lathe but did not think of using it, thinking the poly would be too soft but if it works then great.
Quite a few posts for a newcommer, Kiwiv4 I am following the gearbox thread with baited breath! Weclome to the site.

I have found that the easist way to cut down Poly bushes is to put a bolt thru the centre and then a nut, put them in the drill press at a reasonably slow speed (use a lathe if you have one) and then simply cut with a sharp Stanley type knife, takes seconds, and gives a very clean finish, and does not fill either the grinding stone or the workshop with gooey mess!

I have finally sorted out easy poly bushes for the 96 with out much modifications.

The lower wishbone bush needs the supplied sleeve drilling out to 16mm
The upper wishbone bush needs a few mm off the flange and the bevel taking down - easily done on a bench grinder
The link arms need the sleeve opening out a bit with a rat tail file and the flange taking down a bit by a few mm.
Contact Powerflex and speak to a chap called Matthew Atkins (01895 460033). He helped me source bushes which were as close as possible to saab measurments and it would probably be easiest for him to just copy my order itinerary to another order.
Have yet to fit the wishbones and rear axle back on the car and drive it but I think the hardest part has now been done!

No, this is just for the wishbones and rear link arms - 12 bushes in total.
Several people have reccomended keeping the rear axle centre bush rubber.
I have not looked into poly damper bushes either, as new Avo dampers come with poly bushes.

I have ordered a full set, about £140 I think.
They will need some drilling out and trimming but easy stuff. I will post pictures and instructions when I get my full set.
You can contact Matthew Atkins (01895 460033) at Powerflex as he sourced the bushes for me and just ask for a repeat order of what I (Adam Gent) had.

Yes ,I am interested in one set. How easy is it to change out the bushes? Any special tolls/ equipment required ? What is the advantage ? Will they fit my 1968 V4 ?

Just an update:
I recieved three samples (upper and lower wishbones and rear link arm). I have fitted them into the bush housings but not assmebled the whole components - if that makes sense!
The larger wishbone bush (upper i think, I don't have them infront of me) is a tad too wide but I will trim with a sharp knife and the metal sleeve will need drilling out. Other than that, they look good. I will have another look at them (including the trimming and drilling) when I get back to work on Wednesday.
I have ordered the full set anyway so I can see who they fit as a complete assembly.
So far so good.

I'm about to strip out all my rear suspension as I'm now going to repair all of my boot floor on my daily 96, so it has to come out along with the fuel tank. While it's out I may as well rebuild the whole lot.
One Saab is never enough!
