After 3 years without a classic Saab, I'm now back in the fold!

I've missed getting my hands dirty and my knuckles scraped (and asking for lots of technical help)! So once I saw this 'beauty' I had to bring her home...

brief stop at Watford Gap, having given up going cross-country I rejoined the motorway, even with a dodgy clutch, no tickover and a stuck-on handbrake!

Backed it down the drive (while the missus was away) and the dog seems to have claimed ownership, not entirely sure how she managed to get herself in there...

Thanks Simon, I'd be looking to do the same (only adding 1") I have a spare set of wheels here, just waiting to find the right person to reband them - only place I've found on this side of the pond is in California and they want dumb money over there to do anything

Do you mind me asking what they cost from your guy in Scarborough? (they might come over in the next suitcase when I come for a visit back home!!)

Funnily enough, I had to use innertubes anyway - as they cut the rims really close to the air valve hole - so had I fitted a valve, it probably would have leaked.

I only added an inch to the width, so I can just about squeeze the rears on under the rear wings.

They were done by a company nearScarborough, but you can probably find someone local that can do it for you. There's also a guy in Sweden that regularly produces them, to all sorts of widths.

Hi Gareth,

The Eriba IS ours, but I haven't got a tow bar for the pickup (yet), still looking...

Hi Simon,
Looks great, we’ll done!
I was gutted to miss the international, I think the 95 would have made it ok but I was struck down with some kind of man flu.
Looks good with the Eriba on the back, come and see us if you are doing a SW camping trip next summer.
Cheers

love the deep dished wheels, where did you get them?

I finally got the pickup ready for the International in August, I had a long list of things that needed to be done and there were a lot of late nights and sourcing the final few parts I needed - but we got there and she drove to the show with no problems. She's since been to a few local shows and recently to a Saab meeting at the Ace Cafe. There's still a lot to do - but I can hopefully get it done over the Winter.

Simon
Old cars= rattles.....My wife's Nissan Figaro has developed an irritating squeak from the front somewhere. Problem is it only manifests itslef when the car is moving. Grrrrr, irritating!!!!

I've been trying to find the source of a really annoying rattle in the pickup, I thought it might be the exhaust touching the bodywork, so grabbed the tailpipe and gave it a waggle (yeah, I know how that sounds), to test how solid the exhaust bobbins were...

Initially they felt very solid and then bang - they gave up and tore in two!

So obviously I looked for something a little more robust and came across these on the RS Components website...

I still need to track down the rattle, or buy some noise cancelling headphones!

Thanks Matt - just need to install the door cards to complete the look.

I must say that does look very cool!

Finished dash bolted in - everything seems to work OK, a proper road test will let me know for sure...

Are you referring to my highly sophisticated dashboard template, happy to lend it out, if you ever need it.
