Guys

Taking the old Troll over to Northern Ireland for this show, are any of our Irish contingent likely to be there?

Just back from the Moffat Classic Car show.
My 96 plus John Neave's 96 were present, plus two nice 900 convertibles.
When mentioning the Kilbroney show to John, he immediately said he'd be up for a Scottish (North of England?) excursion across to County Down next year..
I know it's a long long way away, but would anybody be else be interested in taking part in an excursion across to NI next year?
I have to immediately say that the cost of the ferry really precludes going over JUST for the show. (I paid £323 this year) You'd have to build a wee holiday in Ireland round the show.
Next year's date is the 16th of June.

Peter

Aye, hope to see you next year.

Glad you're car's OK.
Funnily enough my electric fan stopped working on the Friday, when we did the tour round the Mountains of Mourne via Newcastle. It was just a spade terminal that sometime works itself loose, on the thermostat. 30 second fix.

As I said above, we're so impressed by the area, that I've already provisionally booked a room at the Rostrevor Inn for next years show, which is on the 16th of June. Our wedding anniversary!

Off to the Moffat show, in the Borders, on Sunday.

Good photos Andy. Hopefully I'll get a car to the show next year. Thankfully the fan is fixed on the 9000 and it dosen't seem to have suffered from its overheating. Imagine I only live about 50 miles away and have never been to Rostrevor. Norn Iron ain't a bad place to come to. We aren't all head cases. Ps I like that 02 BMW.

Jim

It truly was a great trip.

I think we should organise a Scottish SAAB trip to Co Down next year!

I've posted some more photos across on the UKSAABS site under Meetings, Past Meets.

The fly in the ointment is the ferry. It cost £323 return...Ouch!!
You need to build a trip/holiday to Ireland around the show, to make it worthwhile.

Just a quick word about the Kilbroney show at Rostrevor, in Co Down.

A fantastic show, with over 2000 cars, really hot weather, in a beautiful setting below the Mountains of Mourne. Well worth the trip.
Only two other SAABs present, they were both older 900 convertibles.

Rostrevor itself is worth a visit in its' own right. Lovely, lovely people, great food, fantastic pubs and Guinness.!

A few photos below.

An aerial view of the show, taken from a hydraulic lift 80 metres up.

SAAB in the show.

A very tasty MGB

Only seeing this post now. I haven't been at St Johns point for donkeys years. It is in Co Down near to Tyrella beach. Sorry Andy would have been close ish to Rostrevor. You'll enjoy the Antrim Coast Road. It's a great drive on a good day.

Melle
We are taking the ferry to Belfast, but after this show we're heading to Malin Head, in Co Donegal.
We'll be driving back from Donegal, to Belfast, to catch the ferry on Tuesday afternoon.
We intend to take the A2 that hugs the north coast. We'll stop off at the Giant's Causeway on the way.
St John's Point doesn't seem to me, to be on the north coast though.

Northern Ireland is great, and so is the North of the Republic. Are you taking the Larne ferry? I can highly recommend driving down the A2 along the coast; make sure you visit St. John's Point lighthouse along the way:

Stig

I won't exaggerate, I'm not going across to Ireland only for this show.
It's our wedding anniversary, so it's a wee "trip away". SWMBO talked recently about wanting to go to Ireland, so......I sort of "potted" the show into a trip to Ireland for 5 days...Going to Co Donegal as well.
