Hi everyone. I'm a new member on this forum, and currently giving my recently acquired 96 a bit of much needed TLC

Stripped the front suspension on one side, in order to repaint the wishbones etc, and replace the bushes and ball joints.
Got as far as re-fitting the wishbones and upper bump stop.
When re-assembling is it advisable to re-fit the hub assembly before refitting the spring, or does it not matter?

Thank you both.
I now have the one side all back together safely.
Those upper ball joint bolts took some fitting. Everything has to be perfectly aligned or the shank prevents insertion.
Think I'll take a few days to recover before stripping t'other side

The upper ball joint is a problem as it is pressed down by the coil spring. Do as Dirtdiker writes and you are OK.

Thanks Dirtbiker,

I intend to have a go at putting all back together at more-or-less the same time, I just wanted to check whether there was a preferred (safest/easiest)order of assembly

Hi,
I tend to do it (or at least the upper ball joint) kind of at the same time.
I find it easiest to compress the spring and slide it into place on it's lower mount then push the upper ball joint in and wedge a screwdriver through one of the ball joint fixing holes. At this point nothing can let go so you can relax for a minute then get a bolt through then pull the screwdriver and get the second bolt through.
I often (as do others I believe) wear my motorbike helmet for this one!
Cheers
