Hi looking for a decent straight Saab 96 for my son must be road legal and a decent car not to much to spend up to £4000 any one know of any decent cars please reply

Hi ,
I have a 1972 Saab 96 for sale for £3000 in Coventry.

Reconditioned engine, new gaiters on drive shaft, new gaiters on steering rack and new shocks on the rear.

6 months left on current MOT (due end Sept 2018)

The car at the auction sold for £3100 according to the website. I think that's a really good deal if the car is as good as it looks and sounds in the description.
The BSA went for £3200 - too much I think which is good as I would have been gutted to have missed it if it had been a bargain!

Yes, 1700 engines exist and come in low compression (Sonett) and high compression flavour. A std. 1700HC engine gives a nice bit of extra bottom torque compared to a 1500. Search the forum, many threads on this topic.

Thanks for that info I've been also given another lead but it's a 1700 cc engine ?? Not sure on this engine most I've had are 1500cc
1700cc overthrown crank ??? Not sure on this ?
