pchristy | Posted - 20 Apr 2018 : 16:29:06 Well the V4 has got through its MOT again with only one advisory - for the rear offside tyre wearing on the inside rim! The tester reckons with the mileage I'm doing, it should be good for another year, but to keep an eye on it.
Which begs the question why is that the only tyre wearing? All the rest are very evenly worn. I'm guessing that the rear stub axle must be bent slightly on that side - probably pothole damage! But how to fix it? I know the rally boys used to use a long piece of scaffolding pole and just bend it back! But since it is difficult - if not impossible - to get a 4-wheel alignment done on a 96, how do you get it right?
Answers on a post-card, please.....!

andydeans3 | Posted - 27 Jun 2018 : 08:49:29 Derek Yep, Conrad Electronics sold me an orange and red tint. The orange tint isn't quite 100% right, but does the trick.
Thanks for the tip.

You lose a lot of light if you use an orange bulb behind an orange lens, same with red/red. "Modern" orange bulbs are used behind clear lenses. |
RickyB | Posted - 16 May 2018 : 11:03:49 I bought some glass paint that came in a small glass jar from Hobbycraft to retint a green positioning lamp for a narrowboat. Worked well and cost under a fiver. |

stevebod | Posted - 14 May 2018 : 15:44:54 I had faded front indicator lenses on my V4 and used clear Tamiya Model paint on them with good results. For the orange you need colour X26. They do red as well if you need it. Steve. |

Zagato | Posted - 11 May 2018 : 18:40:42 Andy, I borrowed a batch of orange stain glass window paint off a friend years ago that got hold of it to do his 96 lenses. Worked well.

Yep, mine passed last week with an advisory about the colouring on the rear light lenses being faded. Does anyone know what they can be tinted with? Someone I met at Swedish Day last year gave me a lead, but it turned out to be a dead end. (no longer in production).
I've got a similar tyre wear problem on my rear offside wheel...
I have however, finally found a place locally that CAN do 4 wheel alignment. I've been around many places in East Central Scotland over the last few months trying to get the 4 wheels aligned. Always the same problem with the rear wheels, due to them being partially hidden in the wings.
Farmer Autocare. (who only seems to exist up here in the frozen wastes of the North!!) It is a laser system. The device that they need to hang on the rear wheels, can be wiggled into position with a bit of fiddling. I'm going back in a couple of weeks to have it re-checked, I'll get the brand name of the system, and post here. I'll take some photos as well.
They found that things were a bit out of line, so I'm hoping this will fix the issue. I've got 4 new Continental Tyres on now, so time will tell. Are you going to Swedish Day?
