See above for the topic previously in idle saab chat.

Spent some time rubbing down the 4.5 steels over the last few days. Tried spraying one with a 10+yr old can of Ford Windsor Grey. Bit lighter than the BL Hurricane Grey I used on the heater housing. The windsor grey is probably a better shade for the heater housing though the hurricane is good match for bumper irons.
Below the comparison between the Windsor grey and the original wheel finish which has a hint of silver in it. Have to see if I can get some made up as I have 10 wheels to do.
I have also installed the carpets and under-dash padding which gives an air of comfort. Changes since last pictured is the addition of cassette radio and the rev. counter has been moved off the L-bracket clipped to the column to a copy of the tube bracket secured at the hole on the other side of the column stand. This moved the tacho slightly higher up. It does obscure the speedo above 60mph and the ignition/alternator lamp.

I shall have to try that. Can't remember what I used before but it obviously didn't work. The screen will be coming out for the respray any way. Replacing the rubber would be nice.

Arbomast windscreen sealing compound is the stuff to use on classics (non cement type) and prevents water sitting behind your window rubber rotting everything away.

Replaced the '71 power servo which had failed for a '72 model alternative which matches the master cylinder. Still to bleed the brakes after inspection of the hubs/discs. Mot will be delayed as I now need to repair the front floor which has corroded driver's side around the drain plug. All this due to leaking windscreen seal.

Been a horrible winter which has not encouraged me to do anything out doors so Troll is still to be fettled for a MOT. Fire it up weekly to listen to the Webers. When the MOT has been done, it will need a strip down for an external respray.

I was re-reading all the posts and discovered some picture links had failed as I had moved pics(of Recaro seats)in photobucket. They are now restored.
Also a sly way of bumping the project since I hadn't done anything lately. Car is waiting for some work for a MOT, and touching up of paint fractures to see out the winter.

Spent the day putting the cam timing back to its original setting. It has been timed as standard after my last play and it ran very roughly. It is now back to original settings as per SAH. Haven't fired it up yet. During the process due to light I noticed that the manufacture date was visible on the cam gear, which is from the original 69 car.

The Troll has been looking a little jaded of late, so after a wash I set to with some T-cut, I might add body finishing is not my forte, and the results were refreshing, even though I realised that the tin I was using was 40 yrs old. Didn't take before photos :-

Not at present. Car is not eligible for modern rallying, even historic, as it was restored/prepared to specification valid in 1970/1, and is a replica of cars used by the Saab Team at the time.

Those washer motors can be a real pain! Volvo used identical/ similar motors, they're relatively cheap to come by should you need a replacement.
