Hi everyone,i am in the middle of fitting a highgate twin exhaust system i got of john-saab last year, everything was going well until i tried to but the exhaust manifold nuts on, there is not enough room between the new wide exhaust and the studs, then i remembered woody telling me i had to fit alen headed bolts to get the clearance,
as those studs have been in there for 30+ years i did not want to start taking them out so i have had a brainwave.
i have welded 5 nuts together x4 then ground down the first 4 to the diametere of a cup head bolt and they fit great.
before i finish off the exhaust can anyone see a problem with this new nut system.
i was going to finish it today saturday but the bloody snow is back again.
thanks in advance of your wisdom cheers, john

Come to think of it, my car hasn't got studs for the exhaust mounting. Its fitted with bolts! There is one large head and one small head on each side! When I took the Highgate off and fitted a Jetex, I simply re-used the bolts! It never occurred to me that they were non-standard!
