Hi All,
I have been taking the 95 on little drives and ironing out little niggles as we go.
The oil pressure switch was working most of the time with the odd wiggle of the dash bulb on occasion. However, I now can't get it to light up.
I can probably figure it it but could someone confirm how it actually works...?
My guess is that when the engine is stationary the switch is closed and completes a circuit to earth lighting the bulb. Then when the engine is running the switch contacts open and the circuit is broken.
I would also guess there is a constant positive feed to the dash bulb and the switch is on the negative side.
If I'm wrong I am prepared to be enlightened...
Cheers

Right then,
SAAB - fitted a new pressure switch - still no light on dash. Test the blue wire behind the dash to earth and that gives correct readings with engine stationary and running. I have already changed the instrument pod itself - what can it be?
The bulb!!!
VW Van - hopefully a wiggle will cure it. I had my two year old helper with me so no wiggling possible. The biggest challenge will be finding a chance to get back out to the barn to have a look at it...
Anyway, happy days, I now know I have good oil pressure in the 95!
Cheers

I had the oil warning light come on on my 900 a few weeks ago, a wiggle on the grotty looking spade connector and out it went.

Ordered a new one - I will report back!
Annoyingly went to start up my T25 van which is in a barn for the winter and which I haven't seen since November - oil warning light on!
Ordered a new switch for that one too as a first port of call.
Cheers

The sensor is probably stuck. Just get a new one.
And yes, it works as you described.
Cheers, Peter
