Good afternoon all,

I am refurbing the brakes on my 1968 V4, LHD and I am seeking advice regarding the master cylinder.
The master cylinder is Lockheed 3211-822C Q10 which has the angled top piece with 6 bolts.
When I removed the top chamber, I expected to see a thin gasket which seals around the perimeter but there was a fairly substantial plate approximately 2mm thick made from some composite material. This plate has a cut-out and numerous holes.

I have seen the thin gaskets on a few web sites but I cannot find the thick plate.

What is the function of this plate and are they available ?

Thanks in anticipation.

Cheers
James

Thanks Derek and Derek.
I am beginning to understand what is going on here.
Deggsie educated me on the Spirolox circlip which holds the spring retainer in.
Cheers

The full plate shown with the dismantled MC probably has 3 jobs. Besides being a seal it also serves as a fluid level indicator. This also makes it a splash plate that maintains the level in both halves of the fluid chamber.
