Please reveal all regarding foil and coca-cola!

Does not look like far to go, why do all the rally cars you see have no overriders?

http://www.ehow.com/how_4457299_remove-rust-from-chrome-coke.html

Used to get in the way of spot light configurations and it was an easy way to save weight and stay within the vehicle regs.
If you look at the 1968 RAC winning car PA 9782, they even shortened the rear side bumpers and support arms so the bumper end wouldn't catch the scenery so much.

Had a good day yesterday in the sunshine, making the door pillar trim out of old head-lining and strips of foam. Now the interior is complete bar installation of the rear window and parcel shelf.
It was a strange feeling putting on the full-harness belts for the first time since 1982.
Got absolutely soaked this afternoon in the down-pour but soldiering on cleaning the rubber strip and trying to clean the fold of the headlining so it will stick in place to the aperture. Last time the string pulled it off when trying to install the window.

Views of the front suspension after application of vinyl Bilstein stickers to replace the paper ones which disappeared long ago. The shocks have been repainted as near to the original colour as I could find. They are 38 years old and still work well.
Originals for comparison

Now the rear window is in. Followed the manual but the top edge wouldn't go in. So I got my wife to climb on the car and sit on the top of the glass whilst I coaxed the rubber over the lip without tearing the head-lining.

I like the idea of rounding the corners off the number plates..suits the cars curves!

It's looking great John, almost there. You care to offer a date when we might get to see the beast finally turning a wheel or 4??

I am working for 1st June time. (THIS YEAR!!)
A few niggles to sort but main thing is to sort insurance, MOT and then tax it historic.
Looking to by-pass the leaking heater valve completely or put in an on/off type valve from VW.

Put the rear shelf in, which is out the original car and has the leatherette cover (V4 deluxe). It also had a sheet of ali riveted to it for fireproofing, but this has been removed.
The sacrifice to safety is the intended installation of a SECURON high level brake light which fits at the low screen level.
Then I got distracted.....
