| Arrived at work this morning, and parked up the SAAB in the works car park.
As I was walking across to go into work, what arrives at the car park entrance but *another* 96 V4!!!
A very nice blue "M" reg!
I told the lady driving it where mine was parked. If she's parked next to it, I'll try and get a pic at lunchtime!
I haven't seen another one on the road in years, and now one arrives at my place of work at the same time as me!
I think I need a reality check......!!!

| Quite a shock to the system! It must be ten years since I've seen a Saab on the road (while I'm driving mine). I was on a roundabout, on my way home from Newquay (Run to the Sun) in my turqoise 95 when I saw a dark blue 95 - I nearly crashed!
I hope she parked next to yours! | |

| I went up to the car park at lunch time, and yes, its parked next to mine! I've grabbed a pic on my 'phone, but because of the back-light (its a multi-storey) it will need brightening before I upload it. I've got to go up to Leicester tomorrow, so it will probably be Sunday before I get a chance to sort it out......

| Bizarre, the guy I work with now used to come into my office for consultancy and we would chat about VW's, I was having a temporary spell of madness with a 63 Beetle and he had a bay camper, only months later did it turn out his daily car as was mine at the time were V4's bearing in mind this was only about 5 years ago the odds were/are unbelievable. | |

| OK, done a quick upload tonight - I know how impatient you all are ;-)
I was going to blur the number plate on the blue one, but the owner said she didn't mind! I've pointed her towards this website, so hopefully we'll here from her soon!

| reminded me that when I first had a 96 in the 70's, drivers used to flash lights at each other when you saw another one - of course a lot more around then, but still unusual to see one on the road. | |

| The only 96's i have seen on the road (while in a 96) in the past 3 years have been friends visiting the workshop. I have spotted 3 other 96's on the road...but never when i was in a 96...i did see one parked up while we were on holiday..but it was a long way off the road. Workshop visitors...
Spotted on holiday in Dorset..

| Paul: Yes, I remember we all used to flash our lights back in the 60s and 70s! A new main dealer opened up for SAABs in Paignton - near where I lived at the time - and there were quite a few around the Torbay area. Sadly the dealer's other line was BMWs, and as soon as SAAB started being a threat to BMW sales, they stopped doing them, and these days they seem to be mainly a mini franchise!
Even back then, 96s were a fairly rare sight on the roads, and we always acknowledged each other. But until last Friday, I can't remember the last time I was one in use!

The pictures were taken at my workshop. The chap you bought the car from lives close to me and he was advertising it on Ebay as a spares car..he was going to use the engine in a non SAAB project and break the car ...i jumped in and offered storage until he found a buyer...he then put it on Ebay and you were the lucky winner...what a great car. I don't know much about it's history but my friend was about to buy it when the auction finished. I will ask the guy you bought it from if he knows more.

| lots!..it changes month by month...at the moment 14 but i'm not a trader...infact it's a hobby that has got out of control..cheap storage leads you into trouble!...the guy i share the workshop with has about 30...he bought 3 this week alone...most of our cars are basket cases that we are given...some are better than others. | Edited by - john-saab on 01 Dec 2008 21:56:34 | |

| John,
Are you still interested in the Highgate exhaust? I've removed it now, and fitted a Jetex. I can now hear myself think whilst driving......!
The Highgate came off fairly easily, and its all intact - except that I haven't been able to split the silencers from one set of pipes. This means I've got two very long sections. Won't fit in the SAAB, but might fit in my estate - I'll find out on Saturday!
