| Thanks Derek..I have done several shoots now..I know how they play with the pictures but I'm using this as an excuse to do all those little jobs I keep putting off.

| Veronica drove like she knew what was happening yesterday...(apart from the 1st mile or two where i had to change back to the old carb due to the "new" one sucking in air), a perfect drive there and back and a very enthusiastic drive on the shoot. My only regret was not changing the gear box when I had a chance..this one is sooo noisy. She drew many flattering comments and i'm glad I spent a bit of time on her because unlike the past shoots i have done this one was very close up. I won't spoil it and show the other cars until it's published (was told it would be within the next 3 months but last time i did a shoot it was almost 18 months until publication)

| Thanks Simon..my back isn't great with all of the work so i'm not 100% yet...those seats made it a comftable drive though. The weather was at it's best..i managed to get sun burn..not clever. Do you still have those parts?..i might pay a visit now she's running a bit better.

| I do have those parts, would be worth popping by as I've got quite a few bits and pieces that could be useful to you.
Cheers,

| A while back i fitted some braided fuel hoses to the engine bay..the idea was to help reduce heat transferring to the fuel, the pipes i chose are teflon inner wrapped with stainless steel braiding..my conclusion is that I have wasted my money. Apart from being difficult to cut they are a royal pain the the back side to seal..you need to tighten them up on the carb and fuel pump and anything in-between (in my case a fuel filter and anti return valve)..anything less than jubilee clip stripping tight and they leak..when you do get them tight enough the teflon pipe splits! Back to rubber pipe..that way i can drive without the fear of an engine fire.

| You can get heat reflective sleeving that just slips over the normal fuel pipe if you really think you need it. I made a stiff wire "hold off" which held the pipe out in the breeze which I then attached to the air filter nozzle clamp. Route was straight up to the carb from the pump out and between the valve cover and top hose. Sorry I can't take a pic. Looked neat and seemed to do the job. Having it clipped to the timing cover isn't a good idea IMO even if it is close to the fan. Not much help if you taken that off and gone electric. | |

| I routed mine away from the Jetex..they chuck out a lot of heat so took the path behind the radiator...i'm still going for a stainless covered hose but modern fuel proof rubber (nitral) To be honest since the engine re-build and fitting the correct temperature thermostat and getting the carb balanced up the engine bay temperature is way down..it's been hot recently and the electric fan hasn't kicked in once. Derek..is that a special cover for the thermostat switch or have you been inventive and used a spray can cap?

| Yes, that's a spray can cap. A tight fit into that one but it covers up the rather ugly works. Kenlowe assured me that I didn't need a relay in the circuit. I ran it off the spare fuse at the end which is normally used for the heated rear window, if fitted. Kenlowe override switch fitted under the double air vent. Not a Kenlowe fan though! | |

| A very smart solution that will now be "borrowed". I don't have a relay in my circuit..i run through the same fuse..so far no trouble. I have a Kenlow over ride switch but i only use it if i want to cool the engine bay down in a hurry (running repairs etc)

| I asked a friend in Sweden to look out for one of these for my Amazon. When it arrived I was very pleased with the condition etc but about 5 minutes later realised that it was handed and no good for a RHD car. The long side should butt up against the Speedo pod. Pics I'd seen didn't make this obvious and that's the same with John's pic. No pod on the Saab and you seem to have it centred OK. Is it shaped the same as mine or is it a symetrical shape and good for RHD/LHD? Built in plastic tabs with mine which are clamped by the screen surround. Trays are often found with broken tabs.
If it is symetrical I'd appreciate a pic or two with one from above so that I can ask "Erik" to start seaching again. | |

| Yes Derek mine is symetrical ..it also had a couple of tabs broke hence the long lost bracket...a couple of descreet cable ties and it sits there a treat...perfect for the mobile and the ipod to sit in. I changed the 1st picture to show the shape properly (and i didn't realise how filthy the dash was)
