Might be interested as well if you 96 guys don't mind a Sonett pushing it's nose in! Depends what's needed to fit the regs - if it's full cage and plumed in extinguishers it might be a problem.

PS You didn't say what size bottle of malt so I guess a miniture would do?!!!

Excellent a few guys are interested, Sonnet would be very welcome, preparation to the cars is minimal(if you want it to be!) no need for roll cages, extinguishers etc, you don't have to go "balls out" either, a lot of the cars that attend are standard road cars which are driven to and from the event, at the other end there is some full on specific hillclimbers, last year there was even a Chevron Can Am car, 2 years ago we were able to erect a large marquee at the venue, itI is early days but will try and do that again if the organisers are amenable.

The stainless copy of the rally exhaust has arrived. It doesn't fit exactly and needs some fettling. A lot of needless errors in the fabrication too.

Fettling a decent guage of stainless takes a bit of doing! Is it rude to ask about cost?

Certainly just looking at the pictures there some obvious differences. The V piece looks to be scaled up by about 10-15%. I hope you are going to get them to correct their mistakes for free. If they had the old system to use as a pattern the differences should be minimal.

That's a shame Woody there is no excuse for getting it wrong when they have the old one as a pattern!

I had a similar experience with a very well known exhaust manufacturer back in the '80's when I needed to get a replica of my aging Group 2 system off the rally car replaced. Strangely they did the down pipes and Y piece OK but couldn't be bothered to do the rest so ended up taking a straight pipe and silencer out the back at the centre! No good for rallying of course!

I went to a few places when I wanted to replace the Sonett's exhaust a couple of years ago and got varried responses. One place had laser 3 D measurement capabilities so could guarantee the shape to half a mm but wanted an arm and a leg to do it! I settled on Station Motorsport near Market Harborough as Jonathon who runs it was so enthustiastic and clearly knew his stuff. He showed me some of his work and the welding was top quality - turned out to be an excellent buy.

Hope you get yours sorted in the end.

Yes they had the originals. Told them it was 44mm BORE and they did it in 44mm OD. If you study the photos you can see what they got wrong first then work out how they got round it.

The exhaust is on, after some modification. The "Y" had to be cut at the left elbow to bring the headers and Y into alignment. The tail of the Y was also out by a few degrees so it too was cut and bent and rewelded. I am not able to use the proper Jetex Silencer nor the SS&R type due to the rear pipe being too big. Luckily I still have unused the connecting pipe from the SS&R exhaust so this has been used inconjunction with the mid-silencer I bought from Jetex. I then cut a length of 2" pipe to make a tailpipe for the silencer. Exhaust note is good, and it will be interesting to hear it when the Rally motor fires up. The RH down pipe still needs tweaking but is working at the moment.
Had hoped to have rally engine in this weekend but have been able to extricate it from back of the garage so it is ready to go in.
Having had the car standing for so long has taken its toll on the clutch hydraulics which are leaking. The culprit though is the connector pipe which is leaking at the joint of the plastic pipe to metal union. I shall check M/C & slave cylinder anyway.

Finished hanging the silencer after making a bracket to mount the rubbers. I shall get better photos when it is on the road and I can get up on the lift at work.
