Looking good Woody!

Sorry I won't see it tomorrow. I had to go the National today rather than the Sunday which I had planned.

I didn't get to the National but did finish the engine. Water Pump leaked initially and the rocker covers leak oil due to the inlet manifold standing proud. Webers need fettling but it does sound good. Richard's steel gear certainly whines. I have a movie of it running but it takes ages to load to photobucket.

Looks great Woody and I would certainly like to hear it in action!

I always wanted that set up but alas never got it

Not likely too with the Sonett either no bloody room under the bonnet for goodies like that!

Geoff: Off course you can put twin webers on a Sonett:

Back to topic, car/engine looks great. I'd really like to see it in the flesh.
You won't be going to Belgium to the international meeting by chance?
Regards, Mads

Twin carb solex downdraught manifold might fit. Paul Lucking is thinking of trying this set up on his Sonett when he gets it from the US.

Are there any of them still about? John Potter had a nice set up on his rally car back in the late'70's two twin carbs one behind the other. Always thought they would survive a roll better than the cross over!

It's impressive that engine, it's so nice, so clean and tidy, specially the weber carb.

Sorry Mads, not planning to attend just yet.
Thanks X96 for your comment, I hope to keep it clean and tidy.
Still to add barrel air filters, which need modifying to mate with 40DCOEs.
Despite looking nice, it runs terribly so more work required to clean the carbs internally and replace the O-ring spacers for later type as these are old and leaking.

Poor running has been tracked to the FKI Ignition module having failed. The engine works OK in standard mode. The carbs do need some attention to chokes and jettings to get the best out of them.

Took the Troll up to the Workshops to check/adjust the track and had the opportunity to get photos of the exhaust from underneath:-

Been a bit quiet on this topic for a while. Just been using the Troll to get to work each day, and watching more and more cracks appear in the paintwork.
Just replaced a grumbling front wheel bearing, and re-assembled one of the waterpumps with a rebuild kit. During the journey to the workshops the speedo cable snapped. Have put a standard one in for the moment until I get a new inner made, or acquire a new union for the Tripmeter gearbox so I can retrofit a pre 1970 cable that is sitting the spares box.

Sourced a 10inch pusher fan for the competition radiator, but haven't fitted it yet.
Got through another MOT today, but during the test the oil pressure gauge decided to stick at 60 psi, so that needs investigating/replacing.

Interesting exhaust conversion. Did you reinforce the floor around the new holes?
