I would be grateful for advice on car respray.
I am preparing car at the moment, the doors ,boot and bonnet
have been removed,as have all the wings. All welding
repairs gave been completed.
Is it best to spray all the removed parts as separate
items, and then fit them. Or would it be better to
loose fit wings and spray on car. In some ways I think that
it would be easier for me to spray smaller items, but I am
a bit worried about being consistent with the spraying.

Impossible to advise without knowing what equipment and facilities you have. Also what paint you're going to use. Final colour coats are the problem. Panels off car is good if you have lots of room, 70º plus and ventilation etc. It's not the time of year for painting out in the garage if you want a good result. IMO of course. Even primer coats need heat, but will also suck up any humidity later. If you can safely use 2 pack that obviously helps.

Nick,
If you go onto this link, http://www.uksaabs.co.uk/UKS/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=41755

you will see how I sprayed my car and also a lot of good advice from the one and only Rob Beard( page 3 of the thread). I used Cellulose paint( Nu-agane Paints, Bedford, they are on Ebay)) but Im not sure you can buy this now, I think it has to be water based if you spray your own( I stand to be corrected). If you use 2 Pack paint MAKE SURE YOU USE SOME VERY GOOD BREATHING APPARATUS (MASK)AND EYE PROTECTION or you could do yourself some damage.
I used a 3 cylinder compressor and a Clarke spray gun from Machine Mart, spray pressure was around 55psi (I think), with a water trap on the hose.

I would also agree with Derek you need good ventilation,NO DUST, and a bit of heat but not when your spraying else you will end up with more than you want,ie wait till the better weather arrives unless you can get into a heated garage.
Hope this helps.

Chris

I would think you need the wings off or you will paint the beading. If you want a perfect job, then the doors need to come off for the shuts and the bonnet for the inner wings.

Had a friend who sprayed some of his panels one day and the others the next day. The difference in colour was quite noticeable - bummer! Something to do with different atmospheric conditions I think he said as he did it outside.

I will be using cellulose paint, which will be easier and safer
And I know a local supplier, who will be able mix
the RB2 red that I need. Thanks for advice regarding
temperature,I thought that it would be too cold at
the moment.

off the car for wings definitely and probably doors, boot and bonnet too, laying them flat will let you get more paint on with less chance of paint running, celly is soft but also forgiving as you can relatively easily get rid of runs and orange peel
