| 2-3 months back i stopped to see if i could help a broken down 96..it was local and i had never seen the car before. The car sounded terrible and i thought that the timing gear had gone. I left my details with the owner as he was waiting for the RAC and told him to (A) come say "hello" on this forum and (B) give me a call if I can help. I didn't hear a thing so presumed he had sorted things out. Earlier this week i took a call offering me the car. I had to say "no" as i have no more storage space (one space in reserve but i will let pchristy tell you about that )..then the words FREE were mentioned . Today this arrived..it's got a great history but lived on the beach for 5 years...not too bad that it has to be scrapped but enough work to make it another project.
There are a few interesting mods.. High level brake light..Scandinavian seaways sticker..window rubber faded but painted silver
It came with a Kenlow fan..lot's of extra dials and very unusual wing top side indicators..(they look like they should be there)
It needs a very good polish...my mate said i should leave it but that's not the way i like my cars..

| This sort of confirms my comment on Popular-Classics. Should have looked here first. The side markers are required in Denmark.

| Good work. A friend in need is a friend who may one day give you a car for free!
Don't fret about the paintwork. If you are following -=FUBES=-'s rosie project on the other forum check out the state of his car when he got it and a few hours later after some serious hard graft with a selection of potions and rotary polisher! That car could come out a treat with a bit of elbow grease!
Another one lives!

| I went to collect the spare gearbox and other parts that came with this car..was glad to see a few NOS items like CV boots, rear exhaust silencer, hand brake cables and this..
I already have one so it's on Ebay if anyone needs it! And how rare are these..a set of radiator muffs for the later plastic grilled cars..
And all of the locating plugs are there..
I won't be selling these! | Edited by - john-saab on 09 Oct 2009 19:36:40 | |

| I take it the hole for the saab badge to be seen has been cut by a former owner. My own 69 set has the Aeroplane logo on it. | |

| What a treasure trove, those hub pullers are worth their weight in gold, I have a split new set of grill covers for the bullnose, have been reluctant to fit in case I lose a bit! | |

| Ooops! Pressed submit reply too soon.
I'm in Scotland, but my firm's in Camberley, if that's any help.
Let me know what you want for it if it's still available.
Cheers,
