Im re-building a Weber 28/36 and following the format laid out on www.performance96.co.uk Trouble is the Weber manual calls different jets different things to the list on the site so can anyone please tell me which is which?
Performance96 says..
(1)idle air jet
(2)idle jet
(3)air corrector
(4)accelerator pump jet

Weber manual says
(5)Starting air jet
(6)starting fuel jet
(7)idling jet
(8)air correction jet
so which is which? Is 1 + 5 the same, 2 + 7 the same, 3 + 8 the same, 2 + 6 the same?
Also i have pump jet on the weber page..is that the accelerator pump jet..if so i am really confused.com

Found this link:

http://freespace.virgin.net/tommy.sandham/weber.htm

which shows the 28/36 used on the Cortina 1500 GT. I believe this is the same carb and settings that we usually use. It seems to match the diagram I got in my rebuild kit when I restored mine, though I'm at work doing a night shift tonight, so I can't check!

The 28/36 appears to be a bit misleading, as I believe the correct description is 23DCD (at least , mine is!). I think the 28/36 refers to the largest choke sizes that can be fitted - which can of course apply to other carbs as well. From memory, mine has 26/27 chokes.

Hope some of this helps!

I provided Genty with info for the 28/36DCD41. Looking at his website list there is an extra column inserted titled Idle air jet. Which Weber manual are you using John? I use the Haynes Weber Manual which has a complete chapter on the DCD with exploded view. Similar diagram below. Idle Air Jet appears to be Slow Running Jet in the description but not on the schematic below.
Per Genty's list: Primary;Secondary
Main Jet = 38;38A
Idle Jet = 34;34A
Emln Tube = 74;74A
Air Crctr = 73;73A
AccPmpJet = 72
Needle Vlve = 14
Chokes = 75;75A
Aux Venturi = 76;76A

Google Weber 28/36DCD and you find an online schematic for the DCD but my originally pasted link wouldn't work.

Weber manual says

(6)starting fuel jet (21)

Yes it is. (72)

My 28/36 DCD has a worn Primary spindle hole and needs repairing. I would need to strip it again to familiarise myself with its constituents.

Good luck John

Thanks all...Peter i have the same 28/36 DCD23. I'm using a page from the genuine Weber manual that Anthony at fast road cars sent me.
Yet again Woody..spot on..that helps loads.Thank you!. The spindle holes are good..not perfect but i should get plenty of miles out of it.
Chris..bottom plate has been checked...i had similar breather problems when i fitted the ICH with a pancake filter..there is a little oil in the pancake so i'm going to open up the breather hole in the filter as you did to see if that helps..it will be a while before the DCD is fitted as i'm waiting for an inlet manifold and professionally ported heads to arrive.
