Are the V4s really so hard to find? I must apologise to Roger Blount for not replying to his questions, however I really would prefer a 96 to a 95, although everyone, including me knows the 95 is much more practical.

In NZ? My son lived in NZ for a year (Queenstown and Nelson) and has spotted a few Saabs, but never a 95 or 96.

If anyone fancies a bit of detective work Cromwell SAAB (think they have moved premises now but still exist) rebuilt a Verona Green 96. It was owned by the dealership and they stripped it right back to bare metal about 25 years ago. All new parts were put on from the parts bin and it was absolutely stunning. I am pretty sure they sold it but it has never come up in the club scene and has gone off the radar.

Another one in mint as new condition done about the same time was in the Midlands by a guy I met at a meet. Again he had stripped it right back to bare metal and hidden NOS parts in his loft from his wife and had almost completed the build. It was brown and again has never surfaced or him for that matter.

Unfortunately even these examples in the wrong hands, just left outside without a cover could have been scrapped by now . I bet there are still a few gems hidden away somewhere however.

This one is 41k miles and was restored a while ago but due to lack of use and being stored outside she is not in great shape again. The sills were welded etc and the rust is coming back through under the damp underseal. The glove box dash and seat frames are rusting due to the damp conditions. Bottoms of the doors rusty on inside etc. The inner front wings, front apron are all sound but the heater box vent area (top of bulkhead between A posts ) is showing rust stains all the way along the seam where water just sits inside. The grommet missing from the false wiper hole doesn,t help. Anyway It is not for sale and I have advised the owner to put it under a cover to stop the water getting in everywhere. This car has personal significance to the owner, he has a private collection of cars and will be keeping it. Money won,t prise the wheels off it!

First time out of the garage, have to keep drying out the footwells as the cheap cover lets the rain in through the screen surround.

£1.13 per metre plastic poly sheeting from Mole Valley Stores etc will do a cheap temporay job of keeping the water out when placed underneath your car cover whilst she is out in the open.

On the road in 1971 in Aberdeen:

I've lived around the corner, not much has changed around there since! DVLA doesn't show any details for RAV 46U, so I guess it's long gone.

I reckon that's RAV 461J - not that that helps - it still doesn't come up on the DVLA site

This afternoon (Wed 19th Apr) about 4pm a very smart looking light green 96 turned onto the A4 eastbound at Gillette Corner (some way from my normal stamping grounds in the Highlands, I know !).
It was a few cars ahead of my motorhome and unfortunately the traffic lights changed. Too much traffic so couldn't catch up to get a better view - anyone on here ?
