Ok a newbie question which might sound a bit daft. The 95 drives fine and feels really comfortable but being used to sports cars which are stiffly sprung even if i just touch it i can move like a jelly. It comes to rest quickly enough as per the MOT rules (well almost) and dosen't feel unsafe, i just want to know if "there all like that sir" or if it's in need of a new set of dampers?
The 95 in particular can handle a bit like a boat!
Nowhere near as bad as 2CV, but they do wallow from side to side a bit. Stiffer dampers would certainly help, I chopped the springs on mine (because I preferred the looks of a lower car), but it improved the handling no end - just a bit tricky when it comes to speed bumps!
Cheers guys, it's a bit of a change from my TVR but it really puts a smile on my face driving it, so much character and makes me laugh out loud when cornering enthusiasticly.
If you stiffen the front end up a bit it will help. The rubber bumper cars had some slightly stiffer springs at the front (well mine had). The back tends to go where the front goes. Stiffening the rear can reduce understeer, but it can make the rear a little jiggly. I have a Ginetta and the Saab is alot quicker over very rough country roads as it stays on the ground. You need to throw the car into the corners and hang on.
