Finally fitted the 60 idle jet and a decent linkage. It runs very smoothly but will have to check what ignition advance I've got, as there is a bit of pinking.

I too have the same carb with a mod to the top to fit the standard air filter. Where can I purchase (or which model number) a K&N filter to replace the standard one?

Checked the timing and reset to 6 deg not the 10deg I was runing. no wonder it was pinking. Now running very smoothly but the brakes are faulty (see other post).

I wonder how long ago that was done?..fuel has changed a lot over the years so it might have been fine for 4star or U.S fuel but unleaded is a different bag of fish!

current V4 models..'72 95 (The Flying Banana),'72 96 (Bridget),'74 95 (Veronica),'74 96 (The Brown one)NOW SOLD..destined for greater things

hmm - i think you maybe be right - engine runs much better on the higher octane stuff. That said I think I have a (new) hole in my exhaust to attend to

So is the consensus that the optimum set up was as below?

Main jet 155
Idle jet 60
Emulsion tube F6
Air corrector 175
pump jet 40
needle valve 175
