Hello everyone.
This is my first post of this forum, so feel free to correct me if I violate any rules.
I am currently in the process of restoring a LHD 96 for daily driving use, and it seems that I'll be needing a wiring diagram for it, as the manual's diagram isn't real helpful when rebuilding the primary wiring harness into the cab.

I've already found this diagram for a 1972 96 here, but I'm looking to restore a 1969 model with the older-style gauge & switch layout.

Welcome to the forum, it would be great to see some pics of your car when you get the chance.

Fairly sure Melle has produced a coloured wiring diagram for the 96, but I think it's for a 71 RHD 96.

You can download the '68-'73 95, 96 V4 workshop manual from here...

I think your looking at p273 on the pdf.

Let us know how you get on!

Welcome aboard FromTheKeyboard. Are you in the UK? I have LHD V4s myself and a wealth of spares if you need any.

It was green96v4 who drew up aforementioned diagram, not me: http://www.saab-v4.co.uk/speedball/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20652&SearchTerms=diagram. It's also on my website: http://www.saabv4.com/index.php/project/wiring-diagram/

Simon, do you know who's behind vintagesaabmanuals.org? Great to see the V4 presence on the net growing slowly but steadily.

Thanks for your help Simon.
I've got a shop manual already, but neither me, or a couple of friends could figure out how one was supposed to trace wires through the harness (which seems to bundle them into one large trace), and into other components using the wiring chart.

Anyway, here are the pictures you requested. These were all taken before I pulled the engine.

Please help the stupid old man!
I have been studying the wiring diagrams and I'm still lost.
All I want is which colour wires go to what in the tail lights on my 96 (72 model)

According to the Haynes:
Backup lights: white
Left indicator: blue
Right indicator: grey
Stop lights: red
Left tailight: blue (smaller wire)
Right tailight: green (smaller wire)
I hope this helps.
Nice day to all.
