Finally got around to having the original seats retrimmed. I bought the 'tweed' of Ebay for £6.00 a metre :-) I was advised to get 3 metres, but bought 6 !!! Maybe a new tweed suit is in order to match the seats :-)
As usual when you do one job - everything else now looks old !

They look fantastic . As a matter of interest how much material did you use tweed and vinyl.

Tweed - Material is 54" wide and I was told by the trimmer that 3m would do it. I think was enough for the door cards too.
Vinyl - sorry, no idea.

Think he could have done these blindfold considering some of the other cars he has done.
Very pleased with them :-)

First class. Looks really good. Looks like "bus seat" material which I've often thought would be good and durable in cars.
Need brown floor mats now............
Perhaps post the name of your trimmer?

It's funny you should say that about 'bus seat' material - that's what the trimmer said :-)
SG Styling in Leeds is the trimmer. Used Steve a few times and always excellent work.

:-)
Don't think I will be changing much else, or buying lots of new goodies.
My plans for Betsy were defined very early on and have not changed since.
New bumpers are the next intened purchase ;-) but I want to keep the front one as my other pics in 'projects' show. I'm sure Harrington' could sort this :-)

Well, guess I've started something now.
We went to the Hebden Bridge classic car show on Sunday and managed to get in 'on display'. Great little show, probably most memorable for the 2 very unconvincing TV's in a Pink Cadillac. Each to their own and fair play for having the b***s to be there.

As my 'chrome' was looking decidedly unchromy I got home from work and took the two offside wing trim pieces off. Unfortunately the wing had to be removed to undo one of the retaining bolts - which snapped anyway !
A bit of Nitromoors and they're as good as new - Stainless steel :-)I'll have to make some new bolts, or I may have some Beetle trim clips kicking about - complete with rubber bungs. There is a bit of welding work to be done around the spring mount, so quite a good job that I got a bit carried away on yesterdays enthusiasm !

How thick is that underseal?

The stainless side trim has cleaned up deally well. Paint stripped and then polished with solvol. I've also managed to get all the fastening bolts out, most were broken upon removal anyway. Will try some beetle clips out ;-)
The previous owner had left the side trims in place when the respray was done- why!! so i need to do a bit of tidying here too.

update.
3 out 4 side trims removed, poished and replaced - vw clips did the job well. The rubber bungs are great too as they stop any water getting to thd rear of the clips. clips and bungs are readilg available from GSF ;-)
I had to do a little bit of welding to the spring top mount and there's more to do around the brake pipe area. Back to basics - do not cut through your flexi :-/
I've also ordered some ss bumpers from Harrington :-o oh and a new brake flexi ;-)

Update, prior to photos going up soon.
All 4 side trims are now cleaned and polished. Paintwork underneath is sorted too.
Best of all, my package arrived from the East on Friday - full of stainless bumper pieces #128512; I built them up, trial fitted, then removed the irons for a bit of paint and tidying. Pictures to follow once she's back together. Could be a while as I'm still under the offside wing #128533;
