I ought to know the answer to this one, but its lost in the mists of time.....!

Is there any way of adjusting the front seat height on a 96?

I ask because my 96 seems to have a higher sitting position than my 95, and I would like to lower it if possible! The previous owner was quite short and may have had the seat raised.

Despite having a smaller "sport" steering wheel in the 96, I seem to have less clearance between it and my legs than on the 95! If I had a standard wheel on it, I would be struggling to fit!

I know there is no simple adjustment, but I have this vague recollection of optional blocks somewhere under the seat, but I can't see anything. Or am I being delusional?

As standard the runners are mounted on wedge shaped spacers which are normally fitted [ thick end front] see below. You can turn these around.
Alternative you could put plate shims under the wedges.
Photos of the existing installation would be beneficial.. since you wish to reduce height rather than raise it.

ERRATA - The wedge is normally fitted thick end at rear. Turning round will marginally lower seat as it is moved rearwards.
