| I kissed my 1973 96 goodbye a few days ago to make room for a new project. This 1969 95.
My 96 had more rust than I wanted to deal with as well as more other problems, and I got a little overwhelmed keeping it up and planning what to fix next. This 95 is mostly rust free with no holes in the body other than in the footwell for the rear jump seat.
Its biggest problem is that it is a complete mess cosmetically. Whatever the previous owner did when repainting was obviously wrong as most of the paint has crackled. The window rubber has all dried out (except for the windshield which was replaced a few years ago and has new rubber). I would love to hear from anybody who has put new rubber on their 95, where to find good replacement rubber. Most of the interior vinyl is in a sad state. The previous owner had the front seats reupholstered and the dash pad replaced, but the door cards etc. are pretty sorry looking.
The transmission whines loudly in 4th, but only very faintly in other gears (you have to really listen for it). The previous owner said new bearings were put in it about 20 years ago. It doesn't rattle like the trans in my 96 did, but something must not be right with it.
Anyway I'll be posting updates as I move along. I'm not really planning to restore, just to freshen it up and make it look decent again. I would appreciate any tips on finding replacement window rubber, or carpeting, interior bits etc.
Thanks! |

| Great one; that would look awesome on banded steels and with Euro headlamps (I'm not a fan of soccer balls and US lights).

| For the rubber on the rear side windows call Restoration Specialties. ask for part SA23 and SA23A each window requires 6' per window. 24' total. The rubber runs $4 per foot. I haven't from a replacement for the rear hatch window. There is a place you can get the hatche to body seal with accordian portion but it is very expensive. $300 plus shipping | |

Thanks for the tip. Does this also apply to the pop-in side windows? Or just the fixed side window?
While I'm asking, the door rubber has also shrunk considerably. Anybody got a source on that?

| The pop out windows are a SAAB only part and getting hard to find. They do turn up once in a while but you will have to be quick. The rear door seals can be bought from the owners club in Sweden.

| SA23 is the replacement rubber for the pop out window. SA23A is for the fixed window. The rubber replacement parts are quite new. You will have to phone directly to get them
Restoration Specialties & Supply, Inc. 814-467-9842 148 Minnow Creek Lane, Windber, PA 15963.
The rubber around the doors is also available from them, it is a off the shelf item

That's very interesting. Do you have an email address for them?

Decided to paint the black accents on the soccer balls, I think it makes a huge difference in looks.
