Hi again, as in my opinion the standard jetex tailpipe doesn't suit cars with chrome bumpers (it seems okay on rubber bumper cars as they stick out a bit further) I decided to cobble together my own rear silencer box so I could have shorter tailpipe.

Shiny, stainless? I've modified the Jetex on my 96 by moving the bracket and hacking the stainless sleeve and glass pack off the tailpipe, looks much better now. I've used the same orange PU Mini bobbins!

Hi, the arrival of snow on Friday provided a irresistible opportunity to take Swampy out for a play. Unfortunately third and fourth gears had disappeared, but they returned when I adjusted the gearbox stay bar a bit. Also took the opportunity to take a few pictures.

Lovely 2 stroke seats - did you recover them yourself or use the services of a trimmer?

What does the rear look like?

Very nice indeed. All the better for being out in the snow too.
One of my main reasons why I love the 96 - people don’t appear to wrap their cars up in cotton wool. We’ve not had much snow here, so not much playtime.

I have to confess to using a trimmer to sort the seats out, as my upholstery skills are very limited! Door cards are one thing, seats and piping are another thing altogether. The rear seat is a standard V4 item, whereas the front seats are from a 1967 V4 Sport I believe. According to the guy who sold me the seats, who was a real enthusiast, they were made for Saab by Reutter who later went on to become Recaro. Seats are very similar but not identical to the once used in the earlier Porsche 356s.

No it's Saab Midnight Blue, which I believe was used on 96s in 1979 for the Swedish Market. I chose it because I had a 99 the same colour in the 80s, which I always thought was really smart.
