| Nice image but I find the scale disconcerting, unless all the figures are about 6' 8". Is that just me? | |

| Quick check of the scale seems to show the figures to be between 5' 11 3/4" and 6' 2" tall, the car is 1452mm tall, so I guess it's sitting on some fairly new springs | Edited by - digger on 05 Jan 2018 18:48:34 | |

| Great drawings!
I always find it amazing how we, in this country, love to mix and match units. Height of the people in silly feet and fractions of an inch, and height of the car in millimetres! I really wonder why we even bothered to try and go metric in 1973! We should have either stuck with the old system, as the US has done, or change over to metric, but get on with it!!! Faffing around with two measurement systems for 40+years, is just plain daft.
Personally I prefer the metric system, cannot be bothered with those silly old units. Light blue touch paper, stand back!!!!

| I went to school at a time when they had not long started teaching in metric, but my parents and grandparents still used imperial. I'm therefore just as happy to use either. Which is just as well, as some of my cars use both.
I'm 5'11 and the highest point of the roof of my 96 is about armpit height, which more or less tallies with diggers measurements

| Canada is the same. Both systems are used to the point you will see both meters as well as feet and inches on instructional signage.
I grew up using the imperial system, but actually prefer the metric system. Multiples of 10 just make sense.

| I like the way tyres are measured, imperial diameter, metric width then chuck in a ratio just to keep things simple! | |

| Iceman Yep, just makes sense. I like that short, succinct reason, for preferring the metric system. Since you're Canadian, you're probably not aware that in 1971 we changed the monetary system in the UK, from a truly preposterous system based on 12s and 20s, to a simple decimal system of 100 pence in a pound sterling. (ie like everyone else).
Because of the nature of money, this had to be achieved almost overnight. I think there was a very short "period of grace", where both systems could be quoted for prices, but I don't think it was much more than a few weeks or a month. After that the old system was banished.
Once we had decided to change to the metric measurement system, (rightly or wrongly, that's a different argument), we should have gone about it the same way as the monetary changeover. Old system banished within a short period of grace!!!!

| I really think Canada would have been completely changed over if it was not for the States. When your largest trading partner still uses the imperial system it make things difficult. As far as your old momentary system, I was aware of it. The old old system used to totally confuse me. | |
