Morning all, me again. Thanks for all your responses on springs, Steve at Malbrad is tracking them down for me as we speak.
Next on the list is a rear cage and sump guard.
A bolt in rear cage (MSA compliant) would be ideal.
The underside of the car took a bit of a pounding last time out and therefore needs some protection. An authentic SAAB rally one would be great but I realise the unlikeliness of this.
All ideas received with gratitude

Get back in touch with Steve, Safety Devices will make a cage for the 96 with any specification you require. Need to order through a dealer, so Malbrad will help you there. I would be surprised if Steve doesn't have a sumpguard hidden away somewhere, they aren't complex though. Works spec ones are alloy with steel bands riveted to them, but this does add a lot of weight. As you aren't doing full forest stages the steel bands are probably overkill as well as a weight penalty. A 10 or 6mm alloy guard will be plenty. The complex part is the works type front mount which effectively adds a mounting bar below the front bumper. It is mounted with angle bar bolted to the inner wing. Loads of pictures around, I think Woody has posted on the forum in the past about them. Although a bit fiddly, it is not difficult to make if you can cut and weld. Alternatively for your purposes if it is just to add a bit of extra protection, you could consider mounting to the front valance with a couple of rubber mounts maybe?

Thanks for your response. Steve has come up trumps with an old sump guard and redirected me to Chris Birkbeck through whom I have ordered a rear cage - they are built in Poland!

You might want to consider a front cage as well. The extra box section in the A posts is strong but I was lucky that the roof didn't get any closer to my head in this incident! A front cage was fitted for the next event that's for sure!!
