There is no easy way of saying this, but "I am mechanically inept". I need to up my 1500 (mainly used for endurance rallies) to 1700 and have sourced the crank - thanks Melle. I am unwilling to pay dealer prices for someone who does not understand these engines which brings me to the question: Does anyone know an (possibly retired or experienced amateur) engine builder who could do this without breaking the bank!? Any ideas gratefully received.
I know he knows his V4s (still runs one himself occasionally). His labour rates are not astronomical.
The biggest issue i can see is if the crank needs a regrind and/or new main bearings to match. You'll also need new pistons and rods, and theres a lot of info and opinion on here as to what to use.
