| Hi Chris,
I just fitted a T-piece to the existing oil light switch for my pressure gauge. They do a selection of them here:

along with any plumbing you may need to install.

| Thanks for that Pete. I was thinking that by using a sandwich plate that the copper tube to the gauge would not be too short? The one you bought ,was it the TPV??

| Hi Transit.
I have a sandwich plate fitted but to run bigger oil pipes for an oil cooler. These are a common size and mine was advertised for MG B (can't remember the exact size) but I may have a spare as i just upgraded my normal sandwich plate for a thermostatic one to isolate the oil cooer until oil temp up. PM me if interested in the cooler sandwich plate.
As for oil pressure gauge, I opted for the electric feed type to save running pressurised oil pipe through the car. Just replace the standard on/off oil pressure gauge with and electric oil pressure sender and some very simple wiring and it works a treat. eg https://www.europaspares.com/product/197/18937/GAUGES/SMITHS_TAILOR_MADE_GAUGES/Smiths_Tailor_made_Electrical_Oil_Pressure_Gauge____tmop.html | |

Its a while back, but yes I believe it was the TPV. I think all Fords use the same fitting. I know I bought one for my original V4 back in the early 70s, and was pleasantly surprised to find it fitted the Cleveland V8 in my Fairlane years later!
I'm not too keen on copper pipes, and got one of the nylon ones for my current V4. They do them in a variety of lengths and fittings to suit most types of gauges. I think I bought the 1.5M one, which just comfortably reaches from the standard oil pressure switch location to just above my right knee, where my gauge is located.
I routed mine through the hole where the main wiring loom passes through. You could always route it through one of the other holes (or make your own!) if you need a more central location. Or get a longer pipe - they do several sizes!

| Do you think the nylon pipe is better than the copper one??

| Well,it shouldn't fracture! Actually, neither should a copper one, but it just seems to be tempting fate!
Another good reason is that I once accidentally allowed a copper pipe to touch the battery terminal whilst I was installing it! I could suddenly smell something very hot, and realised the pipe was glowing cherry red! Luckily no damage ensued - other than a very minor burn where I snatched the pipe away - but something that's all too easy with a long, semi-rigid, waggly pipe in the presence of exposed terminals! You can't do that with nylon......!!!
