Hi All,
Any tips on the best stuff to glue trim and badges to bodywork. Ideally I would like something that wouldn't pull the paint off if you removed a badge in 5 years time but I realise this might not exist!
Cheers

3M trim tape, double-sided. An automotive paint shop should have some, it's expensive, if you can't blag an end of a roll from a body shop. Make sure the paintwork in the area is wax and grease free before positioning.

Blimey Derek, that was quick!
I think a tape will work really well on say the SAAB badge on the tailgate of my 95 but what about the SAAB badges that also sit on the rubber side trim on the front wings. I know there should be holes and pins but would like to avoid this if possible... Would some kind of "gunk" be better for this?
Cheers

I thought the tailgate badge had pins as well? I concur with Derek on double stick 3M tape, great stuff.

Tailgate badge has pins but no rubber strip to make things complicated.
On the side of the front wings the rubber strip is already glued in place (on my 95) so I need to fix SAAB badges to that somehow. I would only be happy drilling holes for pins if the wing was off the car and unpainted...
I've ordered some 3M tape anyway to get going with.
Cheers

3M tape works a treat - very sticky!

I am told warming a badge/sticker with a hair dryer before removing it can soften the glue and help to preserve the paint. I have no first hand experience of this though.

Cutting through the adhesive by tugging a length of nylon fishing line behind the badge is more friendly to the paint than a screwdriver.
Yes, heat with a hair drier.
