Well this is odd.
I used the car last Saturday, no problem.
Sunday I took the blower motor out to stop it squealing. This went OK but I didn't try to start the car.

Then - today I tried to use the car and it wouldn't start. Turned over fine but wouldn't fire.
I checked everything under the bonnet and thought the distributor cap was slightly adrift - possibly knocked during the fan rebuild. However it still wouldn't start.
I thought perhaps it was flooded, so I left it for an hour and tried again, but no.
I have a spark and there's fuel in the carb, but not even a hint of it starting.

Any ideas?

Maybe all this wet weather - damp in the distributor meaning although there's a spark its weak?
It will probably start fine tomorrow though and you'll never know what it was!
Good luck tracking it down.

did you knock the distributor body when you were rebuilding the fan, could be out of alignment (timing) which would explain spark and fuel, but not starting....

clutching at straws here

Thanks for all the replies.

Well today (as DirtBiker predicted) it start straight away

I think the distributor got knocked during the fan rebuild and by the time I realised, I had flooded the car. It just seemed to take a long time to dry out.

Used it today for the annual Christmas tree run....
