I picked up a spare set of heads and was looking at fitting larger valves, any advice on what to buy: I see Burton advertise 2.8 V6 Taunus valves, 1-1/2 exhaust and 42.1 mm inlet - will they suit?

I will put in new guides while I am at it, again I see Burton sell cast iron and bronze, as well sticking with cast iron?

Thanks

im looking at doing the same what i would say yes those are the valves that will fit work out the cost of parts but go see a machine shop about cost of getting the work done on the heads
to fit them and get a rought price with them getting the parts too as they usually can get a discount on parts, may as well get hardened inserts fitted too so you can run unleaded too :)

Chat to the guys at Burton. It is effectively 2/3 of a cologne V6 and they advised me. Can’t remember the size but they are big valves that they recommended.

Note that bigger valves won't do much without the inlet and exhaust being upgraded along with a better cam and exhaust system. Possibly higher compression too. Just fitting the larger valves can slow the gas flow speeds and that's not good. On a standard engine, a Jetex exhaust will pull the gas out a bit better and using the 34ICH allow a bit more fuel in when needed. Nothing major but a useful bit of extra poke. No new information there but worth mentioning.

I believe that <5500rpm big valves don't do much, apart from maybe robbing low/ mid range torque if the rest of the engine build isn't very, very well considered.

Thanks to Melle, it is a 1700 with a twin choke manifold. I have a 7.6 cam and a jetex exhaust. I have stiffer v6 valve springs and lightweight cam followers too.

I use 2.9 v6 valves. Same height as std valves.
