| Hi all, I have recently taken my 96 out of storage, I did give it a run now and again so wasn't surprised when it ran out of fuel on the way home. Now full of fuel tucked up in its new garage, I was alerted by the smell and found a puddle of Tescos finest on the floor.
The Fuel and Oil Resistant Rubber Hose had perished next to the mechanical fuel pump and fuel was leaking everywhere. With mole grips on the hose I managed to inspect what I thought was a good part of the hose but it was cracking everywhere so will need replacing.
If you have your engine out for the sake of a few £ replace the hose unless you know its a good one.

| I got some recently from Halfords -HDuty 8mm (5/16") which I needed for the twin Webers. Standard fuel pumps need 6mm. It is also worthwhile checking the rubber hose at the tank end as that perishes too.
Most motorist shops carry fuel pipe. |  |

... or 8mm. The barbs on the pump match the one on the carb; FoMoCos came in 6 and 8mm flavour, 2bbl Solexes are always 8mm as far as I know.

| I was advised to use this: ISO7840 A1 MARINE Grade Rubber Fuel Hose
I have some to fit to the 96 as it is still on its original factory hose behind the back seat... | |

| Thanks for the advise, I changed the original factory hose behind the back seat, the hose that came with the new Weber fitted ok. I used heavy duty fuel / oil hose for the rest with 8mm bore.
Biggest problem was the screw for the clip under the drive shaft!!
Just the filler hose to replace when it arrives and then I can start to enjoy my car again. | |

| | The braided hose can look pretty fancy but the important thing is that the rubber hose itself is compatible with ethanol etc. If it does have any markings to show that it meets current standards you will have to slip off the braiding to find out. Sadly I think many will be found lacking. | |

| | Mine conforms as its the same hose I had on my cosworth which I assure you it’s a lot more fuel pressure than a Saab v4 you pay for what you get buy cheap it don’t last buy expensive the quality speaks for itself every time :) :) | |
