| I know it’s not very technical but I am struggling with the door handle bolts. I have lined the little bolt insert up with a spike but only got one bolt out of four started. I’m heading for big self tappers. Unless of course someone has a brilliant idea. |

| Dave. You've lost me mate. The main part of the door handle is held in place with a plate, which has one screw, holding said plate in place, at one end, and a small screw at the other, that actually screws into the door handle, through the door. Perhaps you're talking about the strike plate on the door post? It has 4 big phillips screws holding it in place. I think those screw into a plate on the back side, accessible by removing the side trim that the front seat belts pass through.

| Dave,
when you say 'one bolt out of four' I'm wondering whether you mean the interior door handle(?) which has four bolt holes, of which you only ever use two depending how high you want the handle.

| A pic of the area you are working on would be useful. Upload to Facebook pages if that is easier. As Andydean has already stated there is the striker plate which fits in the door aperture. It is retained by four 1/4in UNC counter-sunk screws with PZ3 pozi-drive. There are cone- shaped lock washers for each screw. I believe you hang the door and once you are happy with the door gap alignment, also checking with door seal in place then install the door lock assy with lever arm to remote control door release lever. You don't need the door handle at this point. Install the striker plate with wedge piece in place with the four c/s screws and screw in to tapped plate which locates rear side of door aperture. Don't tighten as the striker plate needs to be aligned with the door lock.

| Sorry about the poor description. I did mean the interior pull handles. They are driving me mad | |

| Dave The interior door pull handles are held on with two long UNC screws, (NOT metric). (at least on my 1978 car)
They go up at an angle, not horizontally into the door, and can be a bit of a fiddle to catch the captive nuts set in the door. It makes it easier to use an electric screw driver. Just persevere Dave.

| There is a double set of holes to adjust the height of the "arm rests"; only the top or bottom set of holes is used (i.e. two bolts, not four).

That option can't have been fitted on all cars.
I've got my door cards off just now, filling the door bottoms with Bilt Hamber wax, and my doors only have one pair of captive nuts for the interior pull handles.

| That's correct, one pair of captive nuts in the door, two pairs of holes in the handle/ arm rest.
