Folks,

I've been chasing after a couple of centre caps for the Saab/Minilite rims for quite a while now, to no avail. I'm now considering having some new ones made up by a local injection moulding firm.

Firstly, does anyone have any or know where I could possibly obtain some?
Second, would anyone be interested in buying new ones if I had, say, 50 or 100 made up to original spec?

Regards,

Drew

Yes, I especially like the photos of the Saab 98 that unfortunately was not at the Saab Bilmuseum (or at least not on display) when I attended the Saab Festival this past summer. A car that Saab should have built, not that they would've been available in the USA...

I believe some have had them made from aluminium turned in a lathe. Cheaper than injection moulding for small runs I would have thought.

The ones that Drew is looking for are the ones fitted to the Ronals on the '77 Souvenir edition. At least I think so. This is one of his wheels.

I think the 99 ones have a hexagonal shape to the outer part?

Real long shot but were you saying the ones from Randa.se linked above are not the same as the original Roanal hubs pictured John. They are no longer listed but.... I wondered if you had a set for steels instead?

Drew.

I had the same problem trying to find one of these centres, for one of my Ronals, when I lost one.
I looked for a long time, and even looked at having one made on a 3 D printer. The 3D printer option was going to be seriously expensive, (like around £150 for the 1st one - subsequent copies would have been a lot cheaper).
In the end Melle found me one on a Dutch website. Might have been E bay. I'd need to check with him.

If you had a batch made, I'd certainly be interested in buying some spares.

Excellent Melle.
Just remind, where did you get that Ronal cap from?

Those will surely be for the Compomotive wheels not the real SAAB Ronal alloys...

Yes Melle has offered me the CAD files, I was just wondering if the guy in the link could make another batch up, maybe cheaper, he sells the SAAB logo for the centre which saves a lot of hassle...

WARNING old thread... asking John a question from his post!

They fit both I’ve got a set of the compermotive Saab 96 mini lights and the ronal Saab mini lights the compermotive cap fits both wheels if I could upload a picture I would show you, in my opinion the compermotive ones are better than the other ones , I’ve 5 of those as well.

I thought the Compomotive wheels were copies of the Ronal wheels, so the caps should fit both. Cap quality is down to the supplier and the QA.
