That was the first full day in Wales on last years Roger Albert Clark, it was pretty wet most of the weekend, the photographer got lucky with that shot, but it is a great image.

Thanks Geoff, may have to bite the bullet and sell the 96 soon. I’ve a few 99 projects I’d like to get started on and not enough space in the garage. It will be a tough decision as it is great fun to drive.

That would be a shame Gavin but fully understandable, can't be cheap running 2 rally cars. Yours looks a well prepared 96 so hopefully someone will snap it up. There are alot of false rally 96s on the market at present, i.e.a rev counter, and fancy seats but no or little engine mods and certainly no body strengthening, so a proper one should attract some attention.

Back of photo says Drew & Vigurs Rally 1975, don't remember anything about it! Looks like I hit something.

Just put up a photo to see if I can work the system! Car was mainly standard, sumpguard was cut down from a Hillman Imp one lying around in the garage. Over the next few months it received a Safety Devices rear cage, I was told at the time that a front cage wasn't available because the front pillars were strong enough! A set of Spaxes; a Weber 28/36 from SAH and later an SAH Rally exhaust.

Torbay Rally 1975. We were going quite well, 25th. at halfway out of 80 or so starters but then had to retire with clutch slip.

Haldon MC Mini Monte Rally 1976. Nightmare of an event, one of those days when it snows hard all morning, sun comes out in the afternoon and starts to thaw everything and then as the sun goes down everything just freezes. Deep snow, ice, frozen roads scared me to death, at one point I slid the front corner along a snow covered bank on a steep downhill just to try and get the thing to at least try to slow down. We got a fail for a WD, but then as it transpired so did just about everyone else. Forced to retire with a broken CWP. Despite the problems I'm told if we had kept going we would have ended up in the top six. Good car for the conditions! There were a couple of other events but that was the last one I did with the Saab.

Great pics Rod and just shows what you could do in those days without major mods to the car. Great times and thanks for posting.

Nice one Alex, not seen this one before. Good to see shots with bonnet open, including the scrutineers strip check after the finish.

Chain smoking Pat! Who was her navigator? Trabants going very well and stable too. Must also have been one of the first appearances of the Volvo 144. Suspension not well sorted on that one! Lovely Tatra V8 sound. Who was the woman who came up to join Pat at the dinner?
Great little film.

Pat's navigator looks like Liz Nystrom. Can't be too sure about all the sound as some has been dubbed, especially as one scene of minis sounded like two-strokes. The sound at 8mins of the cars on the road sounds about right. The lady at the end could be Greta Molander, but that is a stab in the dark.

Thanks Woody.
Sounds about right.

Greta would have been about 59 then.
